DRY CREEK BRIDGE PROJECT UNDERWAY
The Dry Creek Bridge Replacement Project has had its challenges (beginning with its start in the time of Covid-19), but now that the construction phase is underway it’s really moving! Work started October 1st and the removal/excavation phase is nearly complete. Project manager (and GSRTA President) Jerry Harmon said on October 12th that “excavation is almost done; the old bridge is completely removed.” He is very pleased with the work of contractor Mike Peters Inc. of Montague, noting that there is very little disturbance of the surrounding area.
Once the excavation is complete, the contractor will install foundations for the prefabricated Pipe Arch bridge. The concrete foundation will “age” for at least eight days, at which time the bridge will be transported from storage in McCloud and installed. Traffic control measures will be installed and the bridge will be officially opened to non motorized recreational use. The GSRTA will send a news blast to newsletter recipients and notify local news outlets when the bridge and its approaches are open.
