Dry Creek Bridge
DRY CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT
Expecting the work of tearing out the old Dry Creek Bridge and installing the new one to be completed this fall, Jerry Harmon, GSRTA President, announced that Requests For Proposals (RFP) for construction will be out soon. In general, the work will involve removing the failing bridge that is currently in place, preparing the site for a new pre-fabricated bridge structure , and installing the new bridge. Companies wishing to receive the Request for Proposals should email the GSRTA at askus@greatshastarailtrail.org. The necessary permits are in hand and work should be initiated before the end of September.
When asked how the project finally got to this point, Jerry remarked “We started the process of replacing this bridge in October 2019 by applying for funds from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC). While the Pandemic and wildfires have played havoc with all aspects of the project, we obtained financial support from SNC and the Community Foundation of the North State’s McConnell Foundation fund, and we just kept plugging along, buoyed by our contractors Vestra Resources, Inc. of Redding and GeoServ, Inc. of Mt. Shasta”
Short news articles regarding further progress on the project will be issued as the project moves along. And there will be pictures!
